black arowana fins?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its definately fin rot. Id use a combination of both Pima and Melafix. Melafix is a remedy for bacterial infections, while Pimafix is more of fungal remedy, but also works as a preventative.

it fin rot. some fish may get while others don't while living in the same tank. i had this problem with my silver but my jars was fine.

had fin rot with my 8 inch silver...raised the temp to 85 added a bit of salt and some melafix and it worked out great...aro go better in about a week or two

Might be it's diet too. My jardini used to have fin rot that never went away even though i used melafix. When i took him off crickets he healed right away.

Young Aro's heal really fast. It should have only taken a week to heal at most. Make sure it's fin rot before you treat it. It could just be very stressed and not healing right. You should actually try lowering the temp gradually. I think 87 is too hot. I keep mine at 80 and my Aro's seem very happy. If you always keep the temp high, it will be useless to raise the temp when the time is needed. Fungus and Bacteria in the tank will then have already adjusted to high temp and could still survive in those kinds of conditions.

sorry man i got to disagree with everyone . it looks like to me he got picked on . my guess the another aro. i had this same problem . the fins took sometime to grow back . the fish must be in a stress free enviorment with a little salt . i have 2 blacks . the beat each other up . the less injured healed quicker . the other is better but not back to normal. they are in different tanks now!
