Man, so many conflicting information. Almost all the websites about black aros - claim that they are peaceful. It is so weird.
if they are not fighting now its ok..observe them closely though..they may or may not fight later..it might sometimes be a small territorial fight..quiet alot of people of mfk hav 2 aros...i myself had 2 aros..it may or may not work...
good luck

Chances are it will not work. With silvers and blacks or combos of both all the same, I have attempted pairs 7 times. I have one successful pair and one pair that looks to be working, with the other 5 attempts being failures.

I have two 5" blacks that will go all day without fighting, then night comes and the next morning they are all torn up. So just cause they seem to get along may not be actually true.

I would separate and get them healthy and then attempt to co-habitate them.

very very rarely will a pair work! if u have 2 tanks, separate them, if not then either take one back or go grab another 3 either silver or black aros....

This is no guarentee either, I started with 5 baby black aros and it was a battle royal.

I've been observing the two closely and they do NOT nip eachother... I suspect that this was caused by the larger ones in the tank. They however are very harmonious and swim together w/o any biting what-so-ever.

Ever watch them after lights out? All fish change behaviour after tank lights are out. Some go to rest, and some become much more aggressive than they are when lights are on.

I've often read that one solution to aggression in an aro comm tank is to leave lights on 24 hours a day. I'm not suggesting you should leave your lights on 24/7. I'm only saying that to suggest that aros become more aggressive with each other after lights are out.

when i got my 2 aros their behavior was totally opposite. they would enter fight mode as soon as i would turn the lights on.

i have an arowana with the orangish-colored fin edges, too. it's not fin rot. i agree that it's probably a fin-nipping issue. good luck.

i would just keep up with the waterchanges and add some Melafix. like a previous poster stated, keep your nitrates low. as far as having two together -like everyone else said, it probably wont work in the long run but who knows-maybe you got two docile aros. but, they also get very large, and occupy the same space in the tank.

they should heal up just fine.
