I've had my Black aro for about two months I think. Tonight I just notice its Tail looks shredded and maybe rotten?? I dont know but the rest of his body is fine its just towards the end of the tail his scales is kinda pink and fins looks like if another fish been picking at it? and ideas? his tank mates are two blood parrot and a chinese algae eater.. Not sure if you can see in the pics.

I say: fin rot for the tail end, other parts of tail - stress.
I think you'll need to lower the tank's light exposure, add more filtration.
As for the short term cure - increase temp, more water changes.

I wouldn't trust the blood parrots.

hello mate, your arowana appears to have a split in his tail fin, but the rest is just black arowana. they tend to have filiment like ends to the edge of their fins. to put you mind at ease, do a water test. I really do not think it is a disease mate, there is not angry / infected looking tissue evident in your pics.
As for parrot fish, they aren't my cup of tea, but unless you have seen them attack the arowana i wouldn't blame them. besides if an angry cichlid did give your arowana a going over there would be alot more damage than this, and the attacks would be persistant ( i.e. you would see the aggression).

To sum up i think you are a ok, but do the test to check parameters are ok.

very nice black arowana, i always regret selling mine, had him since he was the size of my little finger til he was about 12".

all the best,

Guy

Something is beating on your aro, that is not fin rot. You need to figure what fish is doing this. There should be no split fins or tails, nor should the scales have signs of damage near the tail like they do.

When Alden had this aro it was in perfect condition, so it has to be what you are keeping it with now. IMO if it is in a 55g, then it should be the only fish in there. When are you planning an upgrade?

whats in the tank with the arrow besides the parrots?

what scale damage? is there scale damage? none was mentioned or is definitely evident in the ( with all due respect,) low res pics. If your arowana is getting a kicking yank the parrots out mate, there is no damage other than the one split in the tail fin i can't believe the parrots are attacking, like i said previously if they did loads of scales would be stripped, all the fins would be properly split like down to the flesh. Also it is pretty harsh to start having a pop at the guy " coz when my mate had the fish......etc" well he doesn't have the fish now, and smok3o3 has been humble enough to ask for our help, so it's not really constructive to bring up the past is it?

my 2 pence,

Oh and have you tested your parameters yet? If so what were the results?

All the best,

G
