Black arowana Problem

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey thanks arvicanthis, But yea when I got this blac his tail was in better shape than it is now. The thing thats getting me is that the blood parrots cant shut their mouths how do they split the black's tail like that ya know what I mean?!

But there someone picking up the blood parrot soon Ive been looking for another home for them for a while now.

I'm hoping its just split tails I dont want a disease to be in this tank. But in this tank there is also a 4 inch chinese algae eater.

Plan to upgrade of course with tank size. Who wouldnt want a bigger tank..

Ne ways Why i post this is because to me the tail part of the black is pink, I apologize for low quality pics but its all I have right now..

There's a possibility that the CAE is sucking on the aro's slime coat by what you're describing about the caudal peduncle even though it's not showing up very well in the pics. Even if it's not, I would probably remove it. Are you giving it any food like lettuce or anything or just relying on it to eat algae? If it's not getting enough nutrition, it may have turned to sucking on the aro. IDK, just something to look for. I wouldn't really keep the parrots in there, either with the size of the tank it's in, but the CAE is probably more of a threat.

Yea thanks paul for the advise, I was thinking that that was more of a possibility. The blood parrots are now gone, someone just picked them up. for the CAE So far I have not put anything else in there for him to eat but in the tank there is vegetation, But imma have to try putting some lettuce or somethin in for the CAE and go from there..

Glad to see you removed the parrots, probably a good idea to remove the CAE too.

what scale damage? is there scale damage? none was mentioned or is definitely evident in the ( with all due respect,) low res pics. If your arowana is getting a kicking yank the parrots out mate, there is no damage other than the one split in the tail fin i can't believe the parrots are attacking, like i said previously if they did loads of scales would be stripped, all the fins would be properly split like down to the flesh. Also it is pretty harsh to start having a pop at the guy " coz when my mate had the fish......etc" well he doesn't have the fish now, and smok3o3 has been humble enough to ask for our help, so it's not really constructive to bring up the past is it?

my 2 pence,

Oh and have you tested your parameters yet? If so what were the results?

All the best,

G

Low res pics:screwy: If you click on the pics they will give you a larger image. Focus on the scales near the tail in the second pic, though IMO you'd have to be blind not to see the damage in the normal view. If you would have read the original post maybe you would of picked up on the "kinda pink scales". You seem to be more worried on my comment which you idiotically took as a bashing.

My point is that I recently seen this fish and there was no damage at that time. So the culprit is definitely within the OPs tank, no chance that it was done prior.
