Black Arowana--whats so good about them?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
blacks are nice, if i come across one for a nice price i'd take one but i cant see paying so much for a fish so similiar to another. in the end, its all on the owner. how bad u really want it n what u think about it, not what we think about it. i wanted a black forever and changed my mind. if i stumble across one tho ill snag it.

You had yours for 7 years - what happened to it? I didn't think they died that young?

What about an ST compared to an IT? would u pay the price for a similar species then? I would... but i would not pay anything more then 80$ for a black..so i'l prolly never get one.. if i'm paying over 150$ on a fish it WILL be a ST.:naughty:

Eventhough you bought a Leichardti which is very similar to a Jardini.

I like the color of the blacks better. The dark scales outlined by hues of blue and pink are just stunning.
I have both, but I'm leaning to the black being better.

My Blacks are around 20 cms and they are black. black with yellow finnage. no blue phase for them, They are black.

I love both silver and black arowana and IMO there is a world of difference betwen the 2.

First of all, the black arows fins are more pronounced with deeper bluish hue coloration(we all know that one). My silvers have a redish tint to their fins. Also, I don't know why people think they blacks not shiny because my black arow has plenty of "shine" to him. Here is some pics just taken of my arows around the same size: 2 silvers and 1 black for comparison.

As far as growth: The very last pic was in January when I first got my black arowana. Notice how small and immature the silvers were compared to the black back less than 2 months ago. The silvers are catching up quick and will surpass in size in the next 3 months. Also note: The torn fins the black had when I got it and how well it has healed with absolutely NO medication. They will heal on their own for those that do not know.

You choose and tell the difference between the 2.
