I have to agree with you. If anything, it would be environmentally safer to keep blacks, since they grow slower and stay smaller

If you read FWC reasoning for allowing the Silver only is because they die when the water Temp reaches 58 Degrees. Last I checked most Tropical fish would not make it in 58 Degree water for long periods of time.

From what I hear a few LFS in Miami are selling the Blacks as another color.

Honestly I do not know. Expensive fish to experiment on.
