Black Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ah GEV83 you are quite right, I'm sure an aro would say "20 feet wide, 3-10 feet deep and 2 miles long" given that is their natural habitat.

Redtails are a huge, inflexible stocky animal. Tank size depends more on the habits and body type of the fish, not it's size. For instance;

3' South American lungfish - 75 gal
3' Silver aro - 300 gal
3' Redtail Cat - 600 gal +

3' Lungfish 75??? Wow that would be a sight to see. Wouldnt the bio-load be high though???

Yeah I know I am currently looking for a bigger home for him! I will definitely post updates!

Quick question, What is the water temp for Black aro's? I heard 82, or 86 degrees?

I had a silver aro, and then the baby black aro, still have the black and all along the temp is at 82 degrees.

Oh By the way...starting this post and today I am noticing a slight change in my baby black aro's color! I got him June 23rd and instead of a pitch black base with yellow and orange markings, he is a lighter black, and the yellow is a bit faded! I tried taking pics but the little bugger is camera shy, I'll post as soon as I can get a decent pic!
