I just got my first black arowana last month and all ready I had a problem with it. The arowana came with very bad fns especialy the pectoral fins, first thing I done before I even put the fish in the tank was to cut the pectoral fins from half the length , because they had a bad curv in them. amazingly after only one month at my surprise these almost fully grown back, now I turned to the other fins which where the whole tail and the back fin and I cut them off too. I also had to cut off the barbels from half there length because they where not straight . I know this might sound crazy all this cutting but for me its a must because I am obseest on having only perfect fish if possible and here in Malta it is almost imposible to get a black arowana yet alone a perfect one infact this one I had to make a special order for it and it was not easy to get one so this one will have to do. Now all I can do is wait for the fins to grow back and see how they come up fingers croosed.

You cut the fins and barbels on your aro? What is wrong with you? Ask for advice before you do things like that. I would suggest draining your tank and selling it. For the sake of other fish to come just get out of the hobby. Take up a hobby like drawing so you are the one to blame for imperfections. I dont ever like to flame or be a jerk on forums but you have asked for a thrashing from people here. I am hoping this is a joke. If not you disgust me.

Well,

hmm...

no coments...

:duh:

Definitly not the right way to care for your fish, and why would you think that was a good idea? I hope your joking or trolling or whatever because this is absurd

I understand his point of view. Although I would not do it myself, I have seen videos on youtube where a guy cut parts of the gills on his jardini off because it had gill curl and it grew back just fine.

But seriously, spend more money and learn what your doing if you want a perfect fish, dont buy something and expect to do surgery on it in order to get what you want. Thats ignorant.
