Black Background

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There is enough room to paint it while in the room, but I kinda don't want anything perminently on the back of the tank, incase I do want to change it later. I do want to take lots of pictures of my tank with my SLR camera so I guess that rules out trash bags.

i went really simple painted a piece of cardboard black its nice because its rigid unlike paper and the plastic background which suck in my opinion because you cant really get them on right with the tank full and they are a pain to put on if you have no help
Thanks, I will try this method out, sounds easy and simple. Or a black piece of fabric. I will also look into a more blue color background.

I bought a huge flat sheet from walmart in jet black and just cut it to size to put on the back of my tank. I think the sheet was like 3 dollars and i can use it for several tanks. This way it's not as shiny as the trashbag, I also take SLR pictures on my tanks.

Those glossy ones you can buy at LFS are much more expensive and I dont like the glare from them IMO

I have a glossy black background from Petsmart and I hate it. It creates a lot of glare when taking pics and my pike always tries to fight w/ his reflection. I'm changing it out next week for something not as reflective.

X2

I use a very deep black fabric from WalMart. I tack it to the wall behind me tanks.

Fabric is best IMO if you don't want to paint it.

My 75G has black felt as the background, and it cost under $5.00.
Its not shiny and does not ruin pictures, and if it gets wet you can't tell. Those other backgrounds look terrible when they absorb water. If you go with felt you can get it in pretty much any color you want.

Never thought of that idea, nice one & thanks

Use velcro to attach the felt for an easy way to attach/remove
