it adds contrast to the tank..... black backgrounds make the colors brighter in the tank

cool. i went ahead and made a black background for my 55g. At first i wasnt sure if i liked it, but now after a few days of it, i do like the back ground. It does help bring out the color in the tank

yeah, I think a black bg would "make" my 300g into a real showpiece!
