I'm considering purchasing a few black-banded leporinus (around 8) to keep in a community tank. I have 3 options. My pleco with neon tetra tank. My catfish (rtc, piraiba, Dorado) & arowana tank. Or my koi tank (fiberglass thing). Would love your input!!

Banded Leporinus like warmer water (but are adaptable). Koi like colder water and will not adapt well to warm water.
Although Leporinus live with conspecifics (not schooling, but always in loose groups), a tank better be quite large to house well a group of 8 large specimens.
In my experience, Leporinus may not necessarily eat the neons (although they can), but they can be too boisterous and harassing of the neons. In addition, although Leporinus can be had with some plants, they can be a menace to many plant species. Neons would do best (and look best) in a calmer, planted tank.
Just my opinions. I love Leporinus of all kinds and have had a couple of species before/

I wouldn’t say any of those tanks are a really good fit. These things can be real jerks.
I agree with the above that they may not eat the tetras (but it is possible), but will more than likely harass them and the pleco.
They may be a meal for the cats depending on size, but if I had to pick a tank for them it’s that one.
Besides the temp difference, my leporinus has personally killed a goldfish, they are relentless with anything they deem as a threat, which includes pretty much anything their size IME. Long flowy fins don’t help.
They are best in a large tank with similarly sized cichlids, characins, and catfish.

Thanks for the recommendation!
