Black blood parrot?

i picked up a little guy once just like the one you are describing eventually it turned into a full red blood parrot when it grew up. i got him for the same reason you did...looked weird and cool at the same time

I have a small black one with beautiful darker black (if there is such a thing) markings on his sides. He's just now starting to change color. It's fascinating to watch, although I thought he was gorgeous when I thought he would stay black, too. What can I say.... I love the little guy no matter what color he is.....

They start to colour up when they hit about 3" to 4".

When I got saw my little parrot at the store, I had to have her. She only had one eye and was hiding as she got beat up. On the base of her tail there are iridescent green flecks. She's grown about an inch since we have had her.

Mine was a combination of black and orange. He eventually turned all orange. I think most of us buy blood parrots for one main reason. They add bright coloring to our tanks, since most hobby fish are somewhat drab and earth-toned in color.
