I appreciate everyone opinion and feedback. If i can't get a resonable price for my aro i will just keep him.

You guys in cali have it made. Good price on tanks and stock not to mention great weather. Make me want to move back to LA

Unfortunately, fish are the worst investment. When you buy fish, you pretty much set ready to lose money. Even if you sell it at what you purchased it for, you'll still lose out on time, money for food, water, upkeep, utilities and etc.

I paid $ 200 each for 6-7" black aros and I bought 4 of them, raised them for 2 years and sold them for $ 200 each at 22-24" and I am local to you. In the mean time, I drip 100 gallons of freshwater per day, consume about 6-7 lbs of frozen food per week and hundreds in electtricity, dechlorinators, pellets, and etc.

In the end, you can only sell them for what people are willing to pay.

First of all you asked for our opinions. Second I'm from MI and my black cost me $55 + $32 in shipping from snookn21:). In MI you can't even find a black. If you're ordering from a trusted and highly recommended vendor a picture is all you need. I think you're have a difficult time finding anyone willing to pay more $200+. But hey this is your sales thread your price is your decision, GLWS.

IMO, one time deal does not constitute average selling price. Just because I bought a 12" tigrinus for $ 50 from a a guy who's trying to raise money so that his car doesn't get repoed, doesn't mean that that's the average going price.

Besides at $ 55 for a baby black aro (2-3"), you're gambling on a high mortality rate. They're always very fragile at young stage and usually doesn't get out of the "danger zone" until 6-7". Most keepers that I know usually have 1 out of 2 chances of survival up until 6-7".

You obviously took care and raised them well and may have a bit of luck on your side too..

I didn't say anything about $55 being the average price, I was just trying to say vendors can get you cheaper black arowanas vs. LFS since this guy bought his from a LFS. Baby blacks aren't really that difficult to take care of really, just clean water and no tankmates. Also snookn21 kept the the baby blacks for weeks until the egg sac disappear and got them on pellets just to make sure they weren't as fragile. IMO again, $175 seems like a fair price for a 16" black arowana. OP I would just keep the black.

I agree with McPhishy, the thing is you have to look around for a good price on aro's and all fish because there are breeders out there that find people that don't know about the current market price for fish.... and thats where they make their money. and also flamenco-t raises a good point about fish not being a good investment... they never pan out to a money maker unless its super rare and takes a long time to grow like a datonoid or something of that nature. but its your fish and you have taken care of it,so best of luck with the sale!

Thank Stan, I agree completely with both you points.

Back to sale of the aro, Let's make it simple...$200-FIRM.

bump..
