Can a black bullhead catfish live alone in a 20 gallon? What do you have to feed it? What water conditions does it need? It was caught wild in MD.

no black bullheads are the largest of the bullhead family. They can reach sizes of up to 24". Or more reasonably in a home aquarium about 18-19". A 20 gallon tank is only 12 inches deep so i would not keep a bull head larger that 12" in it. a minimum tank size for life i would say it like a 75 gallon. There are smaller bullhead species that you could keep in there for life such as snail bullheads and also you might want to consider looking into madtoms, or stonecats, they are smaller native catfish species that could live in a 20 gallon long for life. I hope this helps. .....Drew

oh i forgot, try to match water p.h. close to where it was caught of around 7.0. Feed beefheart, high quality pellets, shrimp, krill, and hikari sinking catfish pellets.
