what were the water parameters like? was there any aggression towards the con leading up to its death

Remyx...I had the same issue 2 days ago with my 2 yr old female festae. I came home to her covered in a film I have never seen before, in my 125 with 6 other fish, none of which exhibited the same problem. I moved her to a quarantine tank and within 4 hours, she was dead. All the parameters in my water were what they have been her whole life and I had not done anything different but add a 3 inch haitiensis. He is a bit hyper and chases the others around, but not her. That was her tank and she couldnt have cared less. Im clueless to what happened as well. Sorry about your loss.

Have u seen any harrasment before? just becuase the fins were intact doesnt mean he wasnt harrased. harrasment can lead to a chase which can lad to injury with tank ornaments or from hittin the hood when jumping, running into these things or the glass can also cuase internal injury that wont be seen outside. sorry for ur loss again :/

N e ways. The black convict was living with 2 fire mouth, 2 Jack dempsey, 1 GT and couple of basic plecos, and a Pink Convict Oh and a lobster

All within 4-5 inches. The Black convict was the king of the ring. No body picks on him but since he was flakey and fins were not in good shape and one of the eyes were white!. Since he/she was feeling sick other fish were nipping on him/her.

Its weird.... Still trying to figure out why... Thanks every one

What size was the tank? Looks like you had a bunch of brutes in there. Very possible one of the others decided the convict needed to go, all of them are capable, even the plec (which often suck on fish slime when not fed enough).
