It is very confusing to rookies actually.
P13 and black diamond is the same specie but with different outlook, white spots pattern and price. For P13, the white spot pattern are all the same, you can count it form eye to tail which shown as 3, 2 and 1 spot/s pattern. For black diamond, each individual has different pattern of the white spots. Traditionally, black diamond is always more expensive than P13 because it looks better and not easy to catch from the river.

I have a better way of solving this dillema. Lets just ask Mike or Zoodiver and go with whatever they say...This pointless arguing with lack of educated guesses is just like tiger vs flowers...

pearl and motoro are the same
flower and tiger are the same

BD and leo are very close related

but i still find it hard to beleive.why are p14 not the same as leos than??at first people used to think p14 were p13 morph now they are regarded seperate.

we all have seen many bds that look like p14s???

many bds that look like leos???

but also many bds that look totaly different!!!

maybe all 3 are different???

This is just my opinion.

Bd leopoldi and common leopoldi are same, only difference is spotting pattern.

P14 are a seperate ray they dont look anything like real leopoldi and body shape is different also. If your talking about all P14 ROYAL rays and comparing them to leopoldi then your making a mistake, these royal P14 are hybrids crossed with leopoldi and then crossed back to P14.

Pearl and motoro are different also.

As for DNA testing as of a few years ago it was not done yet but not sure about status of that now.

i have never owned a p14 i didnt realize body shape was different than leos.

Anyways, if i remember correctly, p14 come out brown in colour when they are pups are then darken up eventually while leos and BDs come out transparent black already.

i have seen many leos that are brown in color when they are pups actually.but yes p14 pups dont look at all like they are black rays.

Not sure on the brown BD pups, but if you check frank's website, in the breeding section, like i remembered, the p14s come out brown while the BD pups shown are all greyish black.
