Hello there peeps! I have purchased what was supposedly a Albino Oscar and his fins are now turning black? I’m quite worried looking for answers????9167DF67-1835-4241-A4FA-CCBAEE2E6FBB.jpegA1547216-E319-43FA-A47F-9CE01E0C9FAC.jpeg

Think it’s just coloring.

That is normal.

Your Oscar is not a true "albino". True albino Oacars have pink eyes and no coloration at all. What you have is a "Lutino" that is what probably 90% of these white based Oacars are. They will have black eyes and can have like yours black in the fins. It may stay or it could grow out. Only time will tell. The orange Oscar's get is not part of this color differences between Albino or Lutino. It's the eyes and and color on the body. Albinos will be white with some slight pink areas only.

For now it looks fine to me. We won't know its final looks till it gets there. I will suggest giving it some freeze dried krill as treats. Will really bring out the metallic orange that Oscar's have.

Agreed, it's most definitely a lutino Oscar. A very nice looking lil one too. Love the pattern it's got. Like ya said already it's going to be impossible to tell what it will look like in the end just because they never stay the way ya bought em.

Welcome aboard
Please list your parameters in numbers ppm. because if the fish was actually sick it would make it harder to help you.
Agreed parameters are always necessary. Also if the OP is saying that their ammonia lvl is at .50 there's something going on with the chemical lvls of the tank. Ammonia should be almost always non-existent, but since ammonia is present I would imagine that other chemicals are out of balance as well.

Ok everyone after I discovered that my Albino Oscar wasn’t really a Albino but a Lutino, I now think my Tiger Oscar might be another species as well! I am new to this and have been looking at a whole lot of Tiger Oscar pictures and something just ain’t adding up? But I could be totally wrong. Please any information identifying this guy would be appreciated! Thank you! By the way we love him regardless of species just curious

I answered in you other thread as well look there, but I would call it a Copper Oscar.
