Black Flowerhorn?

My cousin just bought a FH. I haven't seen it yet but over the phone he said it was black and bout 6-7in. I told him it was probably stressed out but he told me that the previous owner said that they had raised it from a juv. and it has always been black.

I've never heard of a black FH. I can't find any pictures on the internet. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this?

ive seen one thats black with sparkly scales really nice looking

if they were all black wouldnt they be considered low grade because u wouldnt be able to see the laterl line or blotchs

It's probably a polleni, not a FH at all.

I'll try and borrow a camera and get pix. Now that Grummie2 mentioned a polleni, I think it is a FH mixed with a polleni. It has a body shape, color, and face of a polleni but the markings of a FH.

The fish doesn't have and spotting like the polleni.

i don't think it's possible to mix a polleni with a FH. but u might just be seeing a very dark female with prominate stressbars. sometimes some of my females get very black looking. maybe like this guys female? http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68132
