Thanks for the advise fishfreak317. Honestly, I've never even heard of a polleni untill I posted this thread. I don't know if it is possible to breed a Polleni and FH.

The picture you referenced doesn't look like his FH at all. Thanks though, it was a good idea. My cousin's FH doesn't look like it has dark stripes in it. It looks like the whole body is one uniformly colored and textured black body.

O.K. So my cousin changed out the black sand and put light colored gravel in the tank. The fish has been in there for a couple of weeks and it appears to be a lot lighter in color than when they first had it.

Those are just stress bars they will fade off in time and he will lighten up. I have had some that hold the bars for a couple months for they come around it all depends. Cute looking fish
