Black gator gar

This was at a local pet shop in Kennett PA. He's about 27 inches and is pitch black. They need to get rid of him cuz he's only in a 180 and there asking 60 bucks which I think is a deal. If any body can save this beast please stop by the shop. He is massive

He defanetly could see because he follow me when I walked around the tank but I could be wrong. Maybe blind in one eye? Is there any other cases of black gar?

He is defanetly black. He didn't have any other color showing at all. I thought it was pretty interesting.

It could be a melanistic gator. Those pop up every now and then. Pretty much the exact opposite of an albino except where an albino lacks melanin, melanistics produce more melanin. I wish they were legal here cuz then I would love to have that!
