Black Ghost Knife (accidentally)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Congrats! I personally only read of one person having the same experience years ago. Extremely rare for them to breed in a aquarium.
Thank you. My wife is the one that saw it first. She freaked out a bit telling me one of ours got in the filter. I thought she was crazy and told her no way, they are both over a foot long......lol
Well, we were both right.

I wouldn't change anything your doing and start a journal listing everything from water parameters to even lighting if you want them to spawn again.

I really think this was a freak occurrence. This is a community tank. I am sure the eggs or hatchlings were eaten pretty quickly......sadly enough. This one only survived because it made its way into the filter.

I might disagree it’s happy lol... I’d remove as soon as possible when you have a protective barrier of some sort. Can even be a plastic basket with holes drilled in!

Well, I didn’t ask it so you may be right. Lol
I’ll say it doesn’t know any better. Lol
I do intend, obviously to get it out of there. Hopefully today. I think rushing and putting it in the main tank would be a mistake, but that’s just “think.”
Appreciate the advise. I’ll come up with something.

I would get it into a tank, but do it slowly. Let it acclimate into the main system and let its parents know it exists. It may become a meal if dropped right in there.
