I have a fish tank that is about 80lx40wx65d around 50g . I want to add a Blacl Ghost knife fish and 10 tiger barbs but I'm not sure about what top dwelling fish to afd maybe dwarf gourami's or African butterfly fish but I'm not not to sure if gourami's or African fish will work any other suggestions for top dwelling fish.

Well ghost knives and african butterflg fish end up large enough to eat the barbs, if this is a permanent tank maybe you can keep an african knife fish

Edit: if it is 80CM then i would not recommend any knifefish for that tank. Dwarf gouramis are also more suitable for a deeper tank

The mouth on bgk and African butterfly fish shouldn't be big enough to take down tiger barns. It can be done but watch out for the nippy barbs...should be good though.

Can add some danios or Apollo sharks for top water. Can add butterfly fish but add some floating plants and a hiding spot for the bgk.

The measurements are very much in cms, the 170ltr I have has very similar measurements - 80cm long, 60cm wide and 40cm tall - and is approximately 45 gallons.
His is essentially mine laid on its side, but with an extra 5cms in the height (compared to my 60w & 40h), which would be the extra 5ish gallons.

Dude, no offense but that tank is not big enough for a BGK, maybe as a grow out tank but not for life. :)

Why not ditch the tiger barbs for something more peaceful, and swap out the BGK for an elephant nose? They're cool fish that don't get as big as BGK's do. Only thing is apparently they need peaceful tank mates that won't bother them too much.

Post Script: Next time you give measurements for your tank, try to please note whether they are in centimeters or inches. :)

Elephant noses are a little touch and go, i personally wouldnt keep them in a small tank, rather in one large enough to house a group given their social nature :)

Damn it... The one time I don't put my "do your own research" disclaimer...

Well they survive and eat much better in groups. One guy kept 13 of em together and they ate flake!

^^^ best suggestion so far. And everyone will live happily in the OPs tank for life. :)
