After I did a 50% water change on my 120 gallon tank because a nasty brown foggy cloudy water both of my bgk have been laying on their sides and breathing hard... Did I do something wrong??

Did you treat for chloramines/chlorine in your tap water? Was the new water about the same temperature as the water in the tank? They are really sensitive to changes in water conditions. When was the last time you did a water change?

Welcome to MFK

I think the tap water was a bit colder than the tank water but the thermometer read 70
And yes I did conditioned the water... I removed all my fishes from the tank when I was cleaning it and when I went to put the fishes back I notice the bgk on it's side.. When I tapp both of them they swim fine and then they lay on their side again.. :/

i think 70 is kinda low for bgk....do you use a heater? what was the temp prior to the water change? how long has the tank been up and running?

darn!! 70 is too low?? i dont even have a heater either.. the water has been on 70 but they were doing fine before hiding in their favorite spots.. ive only had my tank up and running for about a week and a half.. i changed the water from over feeding it got brown and foggy..

Ya, I think its a little too low...you should also remember to do water changes every week or 2 weeks so your water doesn't get brown and foggy looking. Also make sure to not overfeed them.

& to have healthy and happy fish its best if you feed them a variety of foods also. BGKs love frozen foods and live fish small enough to eat.

cool thanks bro..

thats cool.. i didnt know bgk eat live fish.. how big do they have to be?? mines are only like 3 inches long.. and what kind of frozen foods r u suggesting.. sorry bro im kinda new to this marine hobbie =)

your tank hasnt cycled yet for 1. 2. tap water ussually comes out at about 65*f (atleast here in north florida it does)so i imagine that 5* jump put them in shock...i would test the water i bet the ammonia and nitrites are outta whack also..hope they make it thru......what other fish do you keep in there?
