I think it might be ich because he is kinda iching against the filter tube. Here is the best pic I could get of him.

yes its ich or something like it. what are you water parameters. knife fish are fragile and need very clean water.

If you water is withing acceptable parameters, you should raise the temp to 82 deg. and add aquarium salt. Treatment could last up to 2 weeks.

It is simple treatment, but also be aware of any stressful situations in the tank. Is the bgk getting bullied by any tank mate? Stress and injury bring on ich and other fish illnesses very quickly.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. Nobody bothers him. I'm gonna bring a sample of water to my lfs so that they can test the ph and ammonia. My temperature is already about 80 degrees all the time. How much aquarium salt do I put in so that oscar, bichir, sun catfish, spiny eel, weather loach, a goldfish, a pleco, and a small clowed frog? They are all small by the way

His fins were kinda ripped when I got him

Thats another thing that I thought they could be because when I got him, my pretty big clawed frog almost swallowed it. but clawed frogs don't have any teeth so I'm not sure. Maybe he just lost the scales around that area or whatever he has there since he is a scaleless fish

They don't actually have scales, they are a smooth skinned fish, and thats another reason why its easier for them to be injured and infected. Since they don't have the "armor" of scales they are less resilient to damage.

If you buy aquarium salt in the small crystals, use one rounded table spoon full of salt to every 5 gallons of water.
