instead of flakes try to get him to eat high protein pellets, mine loves hikari carnivore pellets and even goes after pieces of silversides. Sounds like nothing is wrong, they grow slow and steady as others have said. dont be afraid to starve him for a few days for him to try new foods.

Well, not to worry now.... He passed on. 3 Days ago my clutz of a Pleco decided to take a breath of air from the surface of the tank and inadvertently ( i HOPE ) flipped Edison out of the tank sticking him to the hood without me knowing. The next morning i go to feed the tank and I lift up the lid and he's stuck to the glass. *HORRIFIED*

They grow quickly to about 9-10", then slow down to about an inch per year. They can live 20+ years.
