Do vague posts like this help anyone? Half the information is wrong, there is nothing here to qualify any of the ideas, it's based around being vague...

I love to hear simple experiences such as:

i have a BGK with one big O 2 JD's and 2GT's and they all getalong great

It shows practical experience without added assumption... More detail is great but there are a few detailed experiences above. I also see in this forum that almost everyone who keeps BGK's with Cichlids have had little to no problems with such a mix... and the vast majority of the people who advise against it have no EXPERIENCE to justify their opinions...

Sorry... but presenting unqualified speculation as fact has all was been a pet peeve of mine...

Also, being from Australia I was wondering whether I would find it much harder to get these fish? If the black ghost wasn't so awesome, I may have considered Australian fish, which would have probably made everything easier...

Honey, you could be livin' a dream. I keep my BGK with rainbow fish, which should be easily acquired for you!!!

I have a mid sized BGK (close to 6 inches), with a Iridescent shark (close to 2-3 inches). I'm scared to turn off the lights, i dont want anything to happen to the shark. What sould i do? At the store it was with female bettas which were smaller than my shark.

Your wolf fish would tear your BGK to death.
Your Aro would be ok but it would need to the about the same size as your BGK.
I house my BGK with an albino tiger oscar and they got along great! So it's ok to mix them too.
I would only get one because BGK tend to argue over territory.
I personally think that housing a Senegal Bichir or a familiar species would be your best bet for a tank mate.
Everything else in the tank is fine but I'd get rid of that wolf fish if you ever want to add new fish.

I hate to admit it, but raising BGKs seems to be my Achilles' Heel. When I first started out, I was told the tiny BGK I just bought would be very aggressive and to keep him will similar aggressive fish. So into the 150 he went. The next morning, he was half in, half out of one of my juvie Oscar's mouth. I was able to save him, placed him in a Community 55 where he died the following day.

I bought a second one and placed him directly into the 55. He seemed to be doing just fine, but within 2 weeks, I found him plastered up against one of my intakes.

I gave it one more try and the third guy passed on with a similar fate.

Besides a guppy or two in the very beginning and a big mistake in mixing a Victorian male cichlid with a few Malawis, I have never lost a fish. So its a big disappointment and a blow to my ego that I can't keep BGKs for some reason! I absolutely love and admire the fish.

The folks here have given good advice, I won't offer any more except to point out that BGKs when small seem to be pretty fragile. Once they get bigger, I am sure they could hold their own against most common Cichlids. I would be concerned about keeping them with the larger, agressive fish you have listed.

Good luck!

My stocklist with no fighting or aggression is 1 BGK 12" ,1 turtle emydura maquarii,,2 mono pbass ,3 mono sebae ,1 giibiceps plecco ,1 clown pleco ,1 yellow spot plecco ,1 bumble bee catfish. BGKs grow slow so get a really big one they are pretty non predatory as long as your tank mates are well fed and cant swallow it and you have a good hide for it your BGK will hold his own.

eeek...ID Shark hehe. id be scared too if i were you. i have a 8" bgk and its a mean hunter. I find BGK are pretty hardy and easy to care for. mines with 3 big angelfish and 2 delhezis growing out and a killifish. just give your bgk PLENTY of hiding spot. senegal bichirs, when i had mine with the bgk, were awesome tankmates. the arowana would be double the bgks size in a matter of months. my arowana grew 8"+ in 4 months, my bgk grew from 3" to 8" in 6 months.

I have two ~5'' long black ghosts, two 3'' zigzag eels, two 4'' baby bichirs, a small crayfish, two freshwater clams, a 8'' pleco and a ~9'' arowana in my 130 gallon community tank. Lots of floating plants, too. The ghosts put up a fight when first introduced, but now they barely notice each other. Providing enough food and hiding seems to be the key, though I don't know if they'll get more aggressive in the future. I want to watch them grow into adulthood in the same tank, along with the bichirs and the zigzags. The pleco and the arowana will be gone by then.
