I can't imagine that'd be necessary unless you live a long way away from your nearest LFS.

They have those worm growing kits at walmart in the fishing section. It's worth a try.

ohh and my ghost knife wont come out to eat. he just hides. is this normal?

have you tried feeding him w/out the lights on? Mine only eats if I put the food into his cave when the lights are on. When they're off he cruises around looking for food

Not all BG's will come out in the light. You might have to drop food in in the dark. They will usually eat most sinking foods - sinking pellets, also prawns, cockles, mussel, etc.

I cut up the worm and drop it directly in the BGK's cave to make sure it eats. Make sure the worm is not too thick for the knife to eat.

btw if i put my cave in the tank, how do i coax my BGK to go in the cave and have that as its next dwelling place?

If you have a cave in your tank, the BGK will naturally go into it. They look for caves.

Sorry to chime in but is it necessary to make a hiding place for BGK if being kept alone in the tank?
