So I stated before in another thread, I am having issues with my black ghost knife and my African brown knife.
I have had these guys in with each other hundreds of times before in many other tanks. Whenever I have a freshwater tank I usually put one of each because they are flipping cool.
Up until recently I have never had issues. Recently my brown knifes are chasing and bitting at the black ghosts. Ripping up their bottem fin and scaring them to the top of the tank. Then the ghost knife usually dies after. This has happened to me the last few times I have tried to get a Black ghost knife. This has happened with a couple of different brown knifes as well in the tanks so I know it's not a case of a over aggressive brown knife.
Before I'm asked here's the set up.
The brown knife is about 5inches.
The ghost knife is about 9 inches.
They are in a 120 gallon tank.
There are 2 pvc pipes, 2 ships, and several live plants for them to hide. A rather large skull for them to hide as well.
There are a couple of smaller bala sharks, about 3inches. And some 3 inches gouramis.
So the size of the tank and who's with them shouldn't be a issue this far. I have had them before for years together and not a single issue like this.
Before when I had them the black ghost knifes were wild caught. In most cases.
Ever since the black ghost knifes have been captive breed it seems that they are not as aggressive anymore.
I'm curious of everyone s thoughts on this. I'm no expert but this one baffles me. I just got rid of my royal clown knife and the brown knife liked it. Why it won't except this black ghost, or any of my more recent brown knifes won't except the black ghost knifes.
Any suggestions or comments.
