black jack???? please help ID this fish.....

that was my first thought when I saw it as well, and that may just be why they decided to call it a "Black Jack", combining the names "black convict" and "Jack Dempsey".
Could be jaguar convict, didnt look at all the pics earlier i have about 50 babys from my a female jag and male convict that i gave to a.buddy a while back that later spawned. So i ended up with the fry. they have the.same head shape.and overall markings. That may be how they turn out. Dont know.if any are large enough to accurately compare. I know.out of.my bunch one is a monster all are 2-3 in one is 5. Thats The.one ill be keeping. Maybe i can get a pic of one when i get home to see if they look similar. But that could make a possible 15" plus fish.

The unique v bar near the head has convict written all over it so id def say convict crossed with maybe dovii or jag Is what I say cause of size

Im gonna try to catch one of the small conjags i have growingout in my indoor turtle pond hopefully i can get the largest one will try to post pics soon. They are still small but maybe will help.

I'm gonna say hybrid since nobody knows what is the parental species....too many guesses in here.
Theres no convict in that fish, there is plenty of fish that can throw out black bars especially when stressed.
