Black Jardini what??? Pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice dark jardini , what was the tank like you got him from ? Black bottom , back and sides ? If so itll probably lighten up unless you do the same , if it doesn't you've found one of the rarer dark jardini
Either way it looks a nice fish :D
Stingray steve has got a nice black jardini , I'm sure a few other members do too

thank you! Tank I got him from was completely bare, no bottom, substrate, not even a light.

my poor man's arowana. Had him for almost a year now and his colour didn't fade. The script along the body/fins is bronze and black on the body is shiny black.

you may need to observe it if it's really black one as some black jardini Ive seen became black due to the dark/black substrate. I took a risk when I got mine but it's a good thing he is still black and well worth the money I spent for it.

That is beautiful! Assuming 'poor man's aro' is complete sarcasm haha. In person mine looks dark with gold/bronze too. hope it turns out like yours!

Stunning :thumbup::D

Thanks!!

Likely dark phase due to background. Should lighten up once in some neutral colors. Nice fish.

Tank is located in center of room so Has no Background. but black sand for substrate. thanks

I'm curious about that... So if it's caused by the background color is it stressed out from being surround by the black. What in nature would cause it to turn black like that?

No background but I have noticed that some fish get more stressed with out a background because they experience movement from all sides of the tank. Especially aros which can be startled rather easily. I had a silver in a 400g who became far less stressed when i added black background and sides.

Nice looking fish. It would be awesome if he stays black like that.

I don't think it's stressed out. Just blending in the background. Same way some people put some fish in a white tank and try to sell them as platinum fish. The fish aren't stressed just reacting with the background.

While this may apply to other fish, my tank has nooo background and the original tank i bought him from had no background or substrate

Your lucky with that jardini one of the best in Australia I used to always make a special trip to billabong to go have a look at it its always looked that way for the 2 to 2.5 years I was going in there

How did he get the open sore and the splits on his fins? He's eating what?

I bought him like that and trying to heal him. He is eating market shrimp for now, I will try pellet trying when he is fully healed

Those black jardinis look really nice!

THank you!

Nice looking jardini you have there I'll be changing to black gravel soon to get mine to darken up a bit

Thanks! Do It, hopefully you see similar results
