So after 4 mnths of living together my RTC ate his only tank mate, a 6" Black Ghost Knife. It was his first kill, even guppies survived 2 mnths with him (untill I removed them due to them getting stuck in the filter). I figured since it was just a baby RTC and a knife fish in a 100 gallon with a ton of hiding places the knife fish would have a chance at survival....I was wrong

Its been 3 days with no sighting on the knife fish....I fear the worse

If the RTC can fit your black ghost knife in its mouth, then yes its most likely gone. I've heard many people having RTC in with knife fish and the RTC's eating them.

So, with that being said...RTC's do not make good tankmates for knife fish unless MAYBE the knifefish is too big for the RTC to eat.

I kinda expected it and the knife fish was only 6$.......though I am upset hes gone......but also kinda excited because now im goin to start with live food!!!!!!!!!

The electric organs of most knife fish produce tiny discharges of just a few millivolts, far too weak to cause any harm to other fish. Instead, they are used to help navigate the environment, including locating the bottom-dwelling invertebrates that compose their diet.

Also, if you still think that there may be a possibility the BGK might be alive, then just move some of the places he usually hides in and check...it won't hurt to do so!

RTC will eat anything. I saw one eat a parrotfish that we never thought was possible for him to eat. Well he did. $15 parrot gone in a second.

Yeah its hiding place is too hard to shake, I'll post if I find him

Alright, hope hes alright and just hiding somewhere... But even if he is still alive, it probably wont be long till the RTC outgrows him and eats him

I just fed bloodworms and shook every thing up....no sign of BGK

Ive been away for work and only been home to feed him every other night. I dont think the auto feeder was dispursing enough food. Thus a hungry RTC....
