so today I picked up 5 black lace clowns and 1 black lace zebra Angelfish. This will be the thread I will keep updated with their growth and development.

Currently they are quarter size.

Currently the tank has this filmy algae type of growth, I think it might be a result of the new lights and substrate in the tank. Maybe a biofilm? So all pictures are not pretty because of it.

The angels started eating it right away, hopefully they make quick work of it.

These angels are difficult to photograph...my filter create micro bubbles in the water column which makes it look like there’s floating particles in my water.

The light is too strong and everything is covered in algae!

The angels should be called little piggies bc they are devouring the algae, green and brown.

And oh boy do they ever poop a lot.

I plan to keep a breeding pair once they pair up. The male will be called megapixel and the female (if it is one of the angels with the O on their sides) will be called Jackie O.

I did do testing on a few tanks last night and got a 0 reading for everything in this tank (which has to be incorrect) so I will test again today.

Good looking angels! The plentiful algae in their diet is probably contributing to excessive poop. Not necessarily a bad thing, means they are healthy and eating well, will grow fast. But may be PITA maintenance-wise.

Thank you!

Yes I’d have to agree with the excessive algae statement being the cause of the poops...they have done a wonderful job at eating the green and soft brown algae!

The angels are showing a really nice bronze and green color in the fins and on the shoulders. All their ventral fins are a golden yellow.

Looks like they will have streamers on their caudal fins, though it looks like they are all missing one of the streamers either on the top of bottom of their caudal fins. Does anyone know if they will grow back?

Angels are doing well

Algae still isn’t under control, looks to be some kind of bright green algae forming on the sand and heater... 80-90% water change tonight along with a window wash!!

Still haven’t finished my rock mountain...I used too much foam for the base and it floats!!! Have to come up with an idea to get it to sink....

Giant Val’s I planted have started sprouting a forest in one corner, they are spreading vastly but not growing upward very well
