It's 5t 105 gallon. Whole tank to himself with minimum decor. Will upgrade if I breed him. Lots of research and homeworkI always kept mine in a 6 ft tank tank as a pair, nothing smaller.
A 100 may be OK for just a single specimen
Very cool, where abouts in Oz are you?
Theres a fair few tiny ones for sale here in Vic at the moment but they are very expensive. Range from $120 to $160 depending which shop you are buying from.
I'm in Perth . His is the last man standing. He came from a batch of 20 and the rest died as juveniles. The guy I got him from tried paring with females but he killed them all
Being in Perth I think the mortality rate for them to be shipped over here is quite low? I've seen a few young ones for sale on gumtree over eastYes, saw this one for sale recently. Previous owner did a good job drumming up that this was the only one in the state.
Nice fish, they are uncommon in Australia. But still a long way off being lost in the hobby. Still quite a lot of juveniles popping up for sale from $50-150.
Good luck with your new fish, he's very nice.

I guess you could get some shipped across if you want to try breeding them yourself.
A LFS here gets most of their stock shipped down from north QLD, its a similar distance from VIC to WA so someone who knows what they are doing should be able to get them to you alive and well. Considering price of them it could be a good investment.
I can see these fish becoming lost in the hobby for us eventually. In reality theres not many people with the tank size and knowledge to be able to breed them.
