Black nasty tank size

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I always figure with cichlids, you need at least 10 gallons per inch of adult fish,
(this takes into account height and girth) so for haitiensus, with my calc, a 150 gal is the minimum needed. Under the right conditions, haitiensus grow very quickly.
I liked the suggestion of a grammodes, if you are looking for that kind of predatory species, they tend to grow slowly, and a single individual could work in a 75 for a long time. grammodes

Cuban cichlids look kind of similar to a black nasty. Mine is not really aggressive so far but he is a little guy yet.

That one is still alive.

And here's another guy. Very handsome Nasty I had for a short while then he died Just around a week ago.

Sorry about the loss of your Haitiensis. If your ever lucky enough to own another they must be kept alone or in a pair. Haitiensis can't tolarate any other cichlid. They die of stress. I've been breeding and raising Haitiensis for over 4 years. I learn't the hard way. Now I own two 15 to 16 inch males.IMG_20151214_204300.jpg IMG_20151214_204300.jpg IMG_20151214_204301.jpg

isde02 isde02 your input on tank size.
125g....of course you could grow them out in something smaller but 125 min for an adult pair imo

Yeah I don't think i'll be getting a haitensis soon I'll just keep cichlids below 15 inches my parents won't let me get a tank that big

get grammodes they are basically a small dovii and they grow VERY slow so theyll be good in an 55 for ages if not for life (= or cubans is another good suggestion, basically a hait but smaller and a little bit less mean but that doesnt mean they arent mean lol
