Great looking pair! I'm glad they're doing well. Keep doing everything you can to avoid bloat.

Thanks, I might not keep them long enough to worry about bloat. They keep all the fish in the corner of the tank. I don't really want to devote a 230 gallon for just 2 fish.

Cool fish!
Thanks

a beautiful pair man! i so wish i had a pair!
Thanks, if you get a pair be prepared to have nothing but them in the tank if they are breeding.

Bought them small in tank of about 20 and the females were black and the male was white. The female also had the bigger hump on it's head.

At one inch it's hard to sex but it's also hard to get a compatible pair. Most of the time you have to buy about 6 and let them pair up. If you don't have dither fish then give that a try so to spread out the aggression.

man, i had to look at these guys again, theyre awesome!!!
Thanks! Here is another teaser, fry batch number 3. I can't believe I haven't sold these yet as I have the pair for sale in my area for a mere $50 and they still haven't sold. I am not interested in breeding them so they are up for sale. Nice fish if they didn't keep breeding all the time. When they breed they take over the entire tank! Now my 5 snakeheads and 2 kelberi that are growing out in the same tank have to stay at the top due to the parents protecting the fry.

Females have a dark solid color in the dorsal if there is a male around, males don't.

They will breed as small as 4" for male, bit smaller for the female.
A mated pair went for about $10 at last falls aquarium society auction.
It is best to raise them separated from each other, either in separate tanks, or some kind of divider, when young (even as small as 1") a dominant one will stress the other into bloat and death.
