Yeah but Argentea get just as big or even bigger. Most Vieja look like giant frying pans when fully adult. They are no small fish in any respect.

Ya they have to be small enough to fit in a 75 by them selves. Is there anything else similiar that would fit?

Cuban cichlids look similar but not the same. Pick one up they will do fine in a 75 gallon tank.

I'm planning on keeping my male in a 125 solo.

Order more than a couple. Most people have a hard time raising them from small fish to adulthood. I lost my first batch from Rapps. The 2nd batch had all 7 make it into young adulthood, that's when aggression culled the flock.

I don't think there is any other cichlid out there that will really resemble the look of a haitiensis. I guess an istlanum would probably be a smaller substitute. Grammodes would be another. If you want something less seen, maybe H. pantostictus, the blue labridens.

And like Darthodo, I'm planning on moving my haitiensis into a larger tank once I buy myself a house. Either a 125 or a 180.
