black or red banjar

Hypothetical question if you had a choice between a baby black or a baby red banjar, which would you pick? Assuming money was not an issue, no tankmates, tank was big enough for both, and asians weren't illegal in the US. And no picking both.

The fact that money and legality is an issue, still influences peoples choice in the poll. Even in this hypothetical world.

Prefer the SA arowanas myself and will always own them, but if your hypothetical scenario existed it is likely I may have both.

I voted for the banjar, but honestly, a black has a more interesting body shape and color IMO while the banjar doesn't have anything that makes asians so desirable, like the vibrant beautiful coloration.
So you might as well save some money and go with the black, unless a different asian variation comes into the mix.

Agreed completely. Blacks have a more interesting shape IMO, and are more attractive than the low end asians (I sold my green to make room for a black). If you're going to get an asian save up for a bit longer and get at least a RTG. It may seem like a lot at the time, but if you're going to be keeping the fish for years and spending lots on a decent sized tank to house it you might as well spend a little more on the fish to get something nice.
