RBPs would be better for you.. a school of reds are also more fun to have as compared a solitary rhom. plus, rhoms, even though slow growers, can reach upto 16 inches and require a much larger tank than .. say ...3 or 4 Reds. And lets not forget Reds are the flag ship piranhas actually responsible for the reputation attached and hence, in my view, are the best.. all the best.

I once had a 60 full of reds and blacks, all about the size of a quarter. The blacks were the last to survive, and eventually one ate the other. Definitely do not get a black unless you want to stare at just one fish in your tank...lol

id rather have a solitary fish and a rhom would be one of them, but for you i just go with 5-10 1" reds and after a little growth thin the shoal out...a 55/60g you could keep 3 grown reds in there but id rather get a 75g and be set for life
