Odd Ball Chat, FuriousAquatics.com, Pfury and others. Im getting an even number of mixed responses..... Ive compared him to blacks and reds, and he looks and is shaped like a black, but maybe he is a red. Hes a nice pacu either way dont you think?

that is not a black pacu. period.

black pacu (tambaqui) is pretty green, less of a disk shape, and its lower jaw sticks out (RBPacu usually have even set jaws or their upper one sticks out a little farther)

yourse is a red belly, i owned two 20"+ for a while (one got killed, i ate the other...too big for my 600g and eat more than large dogs).

ive only seen one black pacu in person, ever.

shrimpsauce knows his stuff!

often times when you Google for pictures of black pacus (using various names), you'll get lots of red pacu pictures which may be misleading.

shrimpsace is right about the "green" coloration, which I failed to notice.

Thanks guys, I guess i was just wanting him to be a black. I still think hes a true beauty/monster dont you guys?

I believe its a black. Look at these pictures i found online. The site claims it is a black pacu (so if the site is wrong i am). The website wasnt in english but it came up in a search of colossoma macropomum. The second is a black for sure. Note how the first picture has the reddish fin and a blacker bottom half and more silver top half. The second shows the black/silver coloration and a little red under the mouth. I could be wrong. But just cause its rare doesnt mean he doesnt have one. Many ppl here have incredibly rare fish.
