Black it would to. The food I feed my fish its brown/red crap they put out. How can you not notice a red moving object on a solid black ground!

It doesn't matter, and I am just going to stop with this post. But have you had black sand? I personally use NLS, so my fish have brownish crud, but anyways with white I literally would clean, sit down and it would look like I didn't clean it. With the black sure I could notice some, but it just didn't scream out at me.

(I mean it is the same with carpets... white carpets with dark haired dogs is hideous to keep looking clean... black carpets much easier.)

I am not saying white doesn't look awesome it does... I am just trying to be practical on upkeep. I guess if you have only one tank to keep up than it wouldn't be too bad. But well heck at the point I am now I am basically moving to all bare tanks now since it makes my life much easier, plus I figure my fish like better water conditions than sand.

I have black gravel no sand. I really dont see how people get this "crap" settling on the bottom. I have gravel and never do a gravel vac, if I try to nothing comes up. Constant movement is key.

Yah I would love to be able to put that much filtration in my tanks... but well with sand if you have too much filtration then you get a big pile of sand in 1 place and no sand elsewhere. Then I don't like seeing powerfilters, and well I could go on. Ideally yes I would figure it all out and get things right, but if you notice people that set up their under substrate filters always end up have them exposed if they use sand. Eh I could go on, but have to say I like the look of sand the best, but for me it just has become too much of a pain to keep it looking great that I have been pulling it out. (And heck with the fish I keep I always have exposed bottom glass on my tanks after 2-3 days.)

So if it were not concidering keeping the tank clean I would likely say white. Realistic work considered I would say black, and if you have 15+ tanks to clean a week I would say just say no to substrates...

LMAO. I have been fighting with this mentally since I started the Poll:D

I found some white gravel around the house last night and covered half of my tank with it while the other half is black. I like it alot more, brighter tank, the light reflects off of the plastic plants I have in there and I can see more of the fish. But I do see the crap more.
