I'm pretty sure that's a red-bellied pacu. RBP have round bodies, while Black Pacus are angular. But RBPs lose the red belly and become really dark as adults.

They have to be considered invasive species just like the snakeheads. Are you supposed to kill them like the snakeheads when you catch them? I realize just one or two anglers killing these fish when they catch them will not help. Just curious as to what Florida wants anglers to do. I am headed down there next month and just wanted to learn a few things a head of time.

I catch and release invasives because me killing them is not going to stop them. I think FFW realizes this now as well.

to be honest it is big but not impressive in my sense but its not a shock this is in florida there bombed with invasive species..or non native..

I agree. I dont mind fish like the cichla, or channa, or pacu but the asian carp really piss me off. There is no benefit to them besides them taking over our river systems. I would kill everyone of those that I would see. The ranger services in Ohio are reporting that they have seen a few in and near the entrances to the great lakes. Its just a matter of time that those things take over. By that I mean 25-50 years but still.
