Anyone ever painted the back of their tank black. Not the inside, but the outside wall. Saw a video of it done and made colors really stand out.

I paint just about every one of my tanks. the only ones I haven't done are the acrylics with colored backgrounds.

i am painting one of my new tanks for the first time in a few days....i bought acrylic rustoleum. Is the stuff suitable?

Okay I have an all glass aquarium. Does regular paint from the local hardware store work or do I need a special kind? You all are painting just the back side and thats it?

Need all the advice I can get. This is the first BIG tank for me and about broke me so I cant afford to mess it up, but can afford to fix it up!

I just buy the Home Accents brand black latex paint. I think it has changed brands to Valspar now. It does the job nicely.

is there any special technique needed to apply the paint? or can I just grab a roller and put it on?

also, how fast does it dry? I would be adding this to an already setup tank.

Also, how can i remove the paint should i ever want it off?

Roller or brush, either will work.

Takes about an hour to dry to the touch, 1/2 hour between coats as you'll need about 4 coats total. Fully dries in about 12-24 hours.

A simple razor blade will take it right off with no issues. Or even one of the plastic razor blade like scrapers if your worried about scratching.
