Black Parrot fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea it would be cool to have something a little different but he will fade for sure so keep up the lights to influence a nice color when he does start to peel.

I had an unfaded BP that lived 16 years old. He was a dominant fish in the colony but he never went faded.

16 years!? Wow you have any pictures? I have three yellow/white ones that have a lot of black on them still so can't wait until they peel.

Update...this is my black parrot now

Looks almost like he is a kirin parrot to me? I also saw two pretty decent sized close to 3 inche "zebra parrots" as the store employee called them in Austin Tx almost identical without the flowerlines just the brownish red color with the bands and light teal spots on the tail and some of the fins

Also just wanted to add if it helps you in any way that the guy I talked to swore to me these "zebra parrots" wouldn't gain the orange color I wish I would have picked some up just to see what they came out like they were definitely good sized I'm thinking they were convict/BP hybrids or possibly a low grade flowerhorn/trimac bred to a BP. Either way cool fish and I don't wanna get your hopes up as this fish could still turn orange and Kirin parrots are a decent but more expansive but who knows maybe you got lucky I hope he stays the odd fish for you.

When I bought him he was sold as a green/red parrot so I'm not sure what he is.. I was thinking he might be a Kirin but not sure..he's def a little different I'm hoping he stays the same as well he's my favorite bp by far..cool little guy

I personally don't think it will change. Looks like Kirin parrot. Nice fish just like that. I don't care for faders. Just buy a red devil!
