Black Sand vs Black Tile

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its a pond with window... ill still email them to you... i was gonna do this before but i worried about crap sitting under the tiles and how hard it would be to keep it clean....

those aqua mops are amazing things ;)

I like the look of the tile alot, I was thinking of using the same tile from Lowes or Home Depot.. I'm just curious, will going from a tank with gravel to going tile will my bacteria crash due to the loss of all the bacteria in the gravel???

Good question, IMHO it depends on your filtration system. Ive currently got 2 FX5s on the tank I might switch out to tile hence I am pretty confident that my bacteria colony will survive.

You thinking about doing this? Whats your filtration like? Tank size?

possibly if you do not have enough bio in your filters. to be safe you can suck out some of the sand one day and wait a few to do the rest.

it has a nice long handle..... http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3728+4072&pcatid=4072

remove your sand in 1/3 sections...week between each is best or atleast 2 days...that will allow your filters to take the full load with no spike...

Thanks for the link Nic...

These things actually work hu?

I used an aquamop very frequently when I serviced aquariums. Keeps your hands dry.
Cus I was cleaning 1000 gallon tanks and the'rs just some places you cant reach.

Wasnt there another thread on here with a guy who tiled his aquarium black and put artwork on it or something? know what I'm talking about?
