My favorte black snake is the mexican black Milksnake. They look really cool when they get adult size.

Texas Indigos stay black, some even keep the red coloration on the chin and belly. Anyhow, they're protected here in Texas, we occasionally find them in the yard. Like DirtyBlackSocks stated; eastern hognoses are nice, I especially find the all black or menalistic hogs very attractive.

(i let the house cat, get a whiff of the snake.... snake was found in our yard)

You could also look for some really dark Cribos, those are something neat and big!

Mexican Black Kingsnakes are as black as they get and shiny as well. Plus they have the added benefit of being as easy as Cal kings to keep and they are generally super tame from day one. I live in N. Cali and mine doesn't even use the heat pad I have for it. It would be fine without it I'm sure but I have it just in case he uses it while digesting and if for some reason the house got cold of course but he also doesn't use hide boxes either he sits in the open 24/7 and is very active during the day. Honestly you couldn't ask for a more perfect pet snake as far as them being, "user friendly" so to speak.

I really like the black pines. To get an all black one it is gonna run you around $150.00. Cheaper ones usually have brown on them. Easter Indigos are gonna run around $1000.00 plus permit if you buy out of state. Black miks you can find for around $50.00. They are the smallest of the bunch and the easiest. I have never seen an all black black rat snake. They usually have some pattern on them. But the are the cheapest and easiest to find.

I would go with the black milk they are awesome and stunning snakes. My friend has one and once it got past its snappy crap on you all the time stage whenhe was younger he became very docile.
