Yes, both carpintis... just different variant. Same as the cyano, different variant of the carpintis.

now that i think about it, it makes sense that it's a varient..

From my understanding, Cyano's are regular texas. They have small spots. Carpintis have large spots and are blueish green. Escondido have even bigger spots and are blueish green. Worming on the Escondido face distiniguishes it from the Carpinitis. Carpinitis also have a different face and body shape.

Carpintis and cyano both texas cichlids. The escondido like fraz said is from a different river than the other carpintis and cyano. And a texas cichlid with a black face is simply in breeding colors.
