I have a 120x48x40 Acrylic Aquarium I would like to house a single black tip shark until he obtains a total lenght of about 30" and then i will donate him to scripps aquarium in la jolla cove! The question is would you do it and also is there a smaller free swiming shark for the home aquarium? I am a little nervous cause i want him to be happy! Your responses are much apperciated!:nilly:

not the best site to ask, this is mainly FW genius's here... not too many Salt! i wish i could help, all i can say is get a bamboo shark theyre sick!

I wouldn't suggest it. That tank is very very small for a black tip (even a baby). Chances are the shark won't live much past the first week. I don't think it's big enough for any free swimming shark.

I'd suggest a catshark, eppaulette or bamboo shark for that set up.

I agree with Matt. He works with sharks and would know. That tank would be big enough for a cat shark and a bamboo. I don't know about an eppaulette. You could get a Cortez Ray instead.

OUCH a lot of things can happen to small fry they can be eating by bigger fish , the rivers curent can take them away to the sea and last but not least can be eating by even bigger fish

go sown to the beach and catch urself a grey smoothhound shark. only gets about 4', very active and can keep a few different fish with it. another option would be a port jackson shark.

a leopard shark MAYBE. if you have an upgrade available.

shovel nose guitar fish are very easily obtainable and are very interesting.

if you dont fish visit www.scsurffishng.com and post a message in "fishing chat" and ask if anyone can obtain one for you. only regs you have to worry about is the leo's need to be 36" to keep.

tell 'em Pierfisher sent ya.;)
