Beautiful Specimen, however how long until the 10,000 is built? The tank you have him in now is way to small too keep that Shark in. Also 10,000 is still on the small size, I would have aimed for 15,000. How much do you and this "friend" know about keeping Sharks? I would have waited until the 10k was cycled and finished before purchasing the Shark.

Cool shark... and let the:FIREdevil begin!

okay you realise a black tip f\grows to 4ft? hes already cramped. 10,000 gal is no where near big enough you need at least 50000 to keep for life 10000 gal tilll he is 2ft.

Whats sad?

Several things actually...

1) Someone keeping an 18" or so black tip reef in a 180 gallon tank thinking it is ok.
2) Someone who claims to be building a 10k tank for the poor shark and fails to understand that even 10k gallons is too small to keep him in.
3) Someone who will now argue with problems #1 & #2 to try to justify their actions.

Some of you people crack me up...you are flaming on this guy for keeping a shark that will probably top out at 4ft in a 10,000 gallon round tank, but you don't flame johnptc for keeping his 3 arapaimas in a 10,000 gallon tank. Wierd.

I agree that he probably should have waited until the 10,000 gallon tank was ready before purchasing the shark, but I don't know all of the circumstances behind the purchase so it would be premature of me to jump to conclusions and start flaming this guy. Based on the pictures, it looks like the shark is still in good shape so we should applaud this guy for going above and beyond what most hobbyists would do for this shark.

By the way, cool shark, my favorite fish of all. And yes, I'm jealous.
