I was at my LFS buying my Bumblebee catfish and since the owner got a upside down catfish in the net to, he gave me it. The thing is, its black? All the ones ive sceen are like brown with like spots on them. Is mine a special type?

Also, my friend was interested in a 2-spot catfish. Is this a hybrid? He only has a 40g tank, will it work?

Thanks

Z

its an Asian Upsidedown Catfish they get up to about 14-18in. swim 98% of the time upside down can get quite aggressive especially towards others of there own species sometimes they'll eat just about anything

and yes they stay all solid black thru out there lives

The Scientific name for this fish is Mystus leocaphassis, they are a beautiful cat but like you say, very aggressive.

Not too aggro. Mine is in a mixed AC tank and plays well w/others. He's only 6" now, so time will tell.

Upside down cats also get white tiny spots all over their sides, this is often mistakingly thought as "ich".They can become aggressive, they also can be hand fed really easily.
