Went well for a few months. Then last night, I saw the tip of my breeder female's tail fin hang out of my wolf's mouth. Prodded him with a stick. He regurgitated a few inches and bit the pike through, swallowed the front. Quite impressive, if it wasn't so devastating....

Oh man...sorry for the loss of ur breeder fish.

Good quote, Oddball.

Yup, it's in his nature.
I think I'll find a cozy 4ft tank for him... having seen him chomp the pike in half, I'm now paranoid for every living thing in the tank.

Sorry for your loss! Now other members can believe that my wolf chopped my green Lac in half like your wolf did to your pike!

Very powerful jaws, and obviously quite sharp teeth. Not the scalpel precision I have seen with piranhas, but ax-like with the bigger mouth. I'm repeating myself, it was quite impressive (and depressing)

sorry for the loss. I had the same happen recently. 3-4" wolf ate the skunk loach which around the same size as him. ended up wolfing him down

we know the risks when we mix aggressive fish, shouldnt house anything with wolf fish ( or big cats, snakehead or atf) that you are overly attached too as we all know, most of us still do it tho!-)

Sorry for your loss.....

I had to remove my Cuda from my wolf grow out for this same reason.

Can you give us approximate sizes on each of the fish involved so we can judge when it's time to move stuff around? If even one of us learn from your mistake then at least it's not a complete loss........
